Project Statement
The Talented 250 Project is a workforce development
initiative focusing on the Hospitality and Tourism Industry.
The Westmoreland Fayette Workforce Investment Board (West-Fay
WIB) is coordinating this project offering high school and
post-secondary students the opportunity to participate in work
experiences/internships in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry.
The students ages 16-22 will have the opportunity to gain
professional entry-level work experience. At the completion of
the project, a maximum of 50 youth will be awarded a $100
scholarship based on their performance evaluations and
commitment to their position. As an extra incentive, based
on employer performance reviews and the career goals essay, the
10 top performers will receive an additional $500 scholarship.
Through the Talented 250 Project, students will gain knowledge
of the career opportunities this industry offers while local
communities within the region will benefit from the
professional, educational, and industrial progress supported by
addressing workforce development challenges for the Hospitality
and Tourism Industry.
